Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality bedside nursing care to Med/Surg patients
Assess patient status, develop and implement individualized care plans
Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
Educate patients and families on diagnosis, care plans, and discharge instructions
Maintain patient safety and compliance with hospital policies and standards
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth handoffs and continuity of care

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or ability to obtain one
Clinical experience or comfort working on a Medical-Surgical unit (Med/Surg)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willingness to obtain
Strong clinical assessment, delegation, and prioritization skills
Comfortable working 12-hour clinical shifts and adapting to unit needs

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred (or equivalent nursing diploma)

Knowledge & Skills

Solid Med/Surg nursing knowledge and patient assessment skills
Medication administration and IV therapy familiarity
Accurate clinical documentation and charting
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond calmly in busy situations
Excellent communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
Patient and family education and discharge planning skills
