Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients' physical function through formal and informal testing to assess skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status
• Develop goal-specific treatment plans based on assessment data and patient tolerance to carry out prescribed interventions
• Submit written treatment regimes as part of the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician, updating as needed
• Devise frequency- and duration-specific treatment schedules, discussing with patients and families and coordinating with clinical support staff
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on pathology, treatment alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for interventions including rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated therapies

Qualifications

• Active Michigan Physical Therapist License (LARA must state Active/MI PT License)
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of physical therapy experience
• Minimum 1 year of outpatient experience
• Candidates must live outside a 100-mile radius from Sault Ste. Marie, MI
• Current skills checklist pertinent to physical therapy within the last year
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills for evaluating patient function
• Expertise in developing individualized treatment plans for outpatient populations
• Ability to coordinate care with physicians and support staff
• Excellent patient and family education skills
• Proficiency in physical therapy modalities and interventions
