Roles & Responsibilities

Greet patients warmly and manage check-in/check-out processes so visits run smoothly
Obtain and document vitals and medical histories accurately to support clinical decisions
Prepare exam rooms and assist clinicians during exams and minor procedures
Maintain clean, organized supplies and sterilization standards for patient safety
Update and manage patient records in the electronic health record with attention to detail
Coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow-up communications with empathy
Support onboarding and orientation activities to welcome new staff and patients

Qualifications

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Medical Assistant certification preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or willing to obtain
Comfortable working with children and families (Shriners is a pediatric-focused facility)
Strong communication skills and a patient-centered attitude
Prior experience in an outpatient clinic or hospital setting is a plus

Education

High school diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant training certificate preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems or quick aptitude to learn
Clinical skills: taking vitals, performing basic clinical tasks, room preparation
Excellent interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Organizational skills to manage scheduling, documentation, and supply inventory
Ability to follow protocols and maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA awareness)
