Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely clinical laboratory testing as a CLS generalist, including blood bank duties
• Process and evaluate specimens, ensuring correct labeling and chain of custody
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to keep results reliable
• Follow quality control and quality assurance procedures to maintain compliance and accuracy
• Document test results and communicate critical findings to the care team promptly
• Participate in proficiency testing, competency assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with colleagues and supervisory staff to support patient care and lab efficiency
• Adhere to safety protocols, infection control, and regulatory requirements in all lab activities

Qualifications

• Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or MLS license (required)
• Experience as a CLS Generalist with demonstrated blood bank experience (required)
• TB clearance completed within the past 12 months (required)
• Strong understanding of laboratory quality control, safety, and regulatory standards
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced lab environment and communicate professionally
• Willingness to be flexible with shift assignments and collaborate with a travel contract team

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on blood bank procedures and transfusion practices
• Clinical laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, immunology, and serology
• Instrument operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Specimen handling, accessioning, and laboratory information systems (LIS) familiarity
• Regulatory knowledge: CLIA, infection control, and standard lab safety practices
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and critical thinking in result interpretation
