Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age‑appropriate direct personal care to an assigned caseload, including assistance with activities of daily living (feeding, bathing, dressing)
• Take and record vital signs, measure outputs, and recognize/report abnormal signs and symptoms promptly
• Implement restorative care activities such as range of motion exercises and safe use of assistive devices
• Follow infection control procedures and universal precautions to keep residents and staff safe
• Observe, document, and accurately report changes in patients’ physical or mental status to the treatment team
• Support patient rights, privacy, and dignity while collaborating with nurses and other care providers
• Follow written and verbal care plans and instructions precisely to ensure consistent, high-quality care

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) — current certification or equivalent (position title requires CNA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers — must be obtained within six (6) months of employment
• Minimum six (6) months of experience in a long-term care (LTC) health facility
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand simple English; follow oral and written instructions
• Comfortable working with diverse populations and demonstrating cultural competence
• Patience, tact, emotional stability, and the ability to handle physical demands of the role

Education

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification or equivalent training
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers — required within six (6) months of employment

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care and personal hygiene/bodily care
• Activities of Daily Living (ADL) assistance
• Basic nursing skills, including vital signs and basic medical/nursing terminology
• Observation, documentation, and accurate reporting
• Infection control and universal precautions
• Body mechanics and safe patient handling
• Restorative care principles and use of assistive devices
• Strong oral and written communication and good teamwork
