Registered Nurse - Surgical Acute (Trauma/Ortho)
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Start Date: 08-31-2026
End Date: 11-30-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts (typically 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), with rotating weekends (3 shifts per 4-week period) and holiday coverage as needed
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $57 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate post-operative care to trauma, orthopedic, and surgical patients
- Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias with confidence
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including SWAT RN, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy 24/7
- Float to MS/Tele units as needed, and potentially to nearby campuses
- Master essential skills like Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes in our SIMs lab
- Support patients recovering from transplants, whipples, spine surgery, and joint replacements
Qualifications
- 2+ years of telemetry experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience is a must
- Active RN license (willing to wait for license submission)
- BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required
- Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance
- Own vehicle required for travel teams
- Natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit test
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Post-operative nursing care for complex surgical patients
- Cerner EMR proficiency
- Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Ventilator management (BiPAP/CPAP)
- Wound care, restraint management, and patient lifting techniques
