Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and care for progressive care patients with complex medical needs
• Administer medications, including chemotherapy (after completing ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course)
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create and adjust care plans
• Educate patients and their families on treatment plans and recovery expectations
• Document patient progress accurately in the electronic health record
• Respond quickly to changes in patient status and intervene to ensure positive outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan or a compact state
• BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course completion or OCN certification (preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of PCU or oncology nursing experience
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing principles
• Chemotherapy administration and vesicant handling
• Patient assessment and continuous monitoring
• IV therapy and central line management
• Electronic health record (EHR) documentation
