Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and prepare pediatric patients for surgery, ensuring they are physically and emotionally ready
• Start IVs, administer pre-operative medications, and monitor vital signs
• Communicate with children and families to ease anxiety and provide clear instructions
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team for a smooth workflow
• Document patient information accurately and maintain a safe, sterile environment
• Advocate for every child's comfort and safety throughout the pre-operative experience

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a compact state
• BLS certification required; PALS certification strongly preferred
• Pediatric, pre-operative, or surgical nursing experience is a plus
• Ability to think quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and a passion for compassionate pediatric care

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric assessment and pre-operative care
• IV insertion and medication administration
• Knowledge of surgical protocols and sterile technique
• Electronic health record (EHR) documentation
• Clear communication with pediatric patients and their families
• Detail-oriented clinical decision making in a fast-paced setting
