Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based med-surg and oncology nursing care to a diverse patient population
• Administer treatments and medications safely, including chemo administration when chemo-certified
• Assess, monitor, and intervene for patients in step-down/ intermediate care and those with sickle cell crises
• Collaborate proactively with physicians, therapists, and the care team to coordinate excellent patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and maintain required certifications and verification (Nursys)
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and self-care to empower recovery

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with Nursys verification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty in a similar-size setting (Med-Surg/Oncology/Step-down)
• Chemo certification preferred (candidates with chemo certs are strongly encouraged to apply)
• Experience caring for oncology patients and those with sickle cell disease
• Complete work history/resume with no gaps greater than 60 days; Skills Checklist, References, and Certification Card required
• Badge-appropriate picture and demographic profile information to be loaded into candidate profile

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med-Surg and Oncology clinical knowledge, including step-down/intermediate care principles
• Experience with chemotherapy protocols and safe chemo handling (if certified)
• Assessment skills for early recognition of deterioration and sickle cell complications
• IV therapy, medication administration, and accurate EHR documentation
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient/family education skills
