Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, culturally sensitive diabetes education to patients and families, empowering self-management
• Use the nursing process to assess patients, develop individualized care plans, and document according to standards
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments safely and in accordance with policies and state practice acts
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support the patient’s longitudinal plan of care
• Serve as a clinical resource for patient education materials and program development
• Participate in performance improvement activities and shared governance to advance care quality
• Escalate patient safety or experience concerns appropriately and advocate for the patient’s clinical and psychosocial needs
• Support floating to other units as needed and contribute positively to unit workflows

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
• Licensed as an RN in Illinois and Wisconsin
• CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist) required
• Approved CPR certification required within 90 days
• Strong clinical judgment, patient education experience, and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Comfort with floating, variable shifts, and occasional on-call responsibilities

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
