Roles & Responsibilities

• Send out all pathology and cytology specimens, bone marrow biopsies, and fine needle aspirates to reference labs
• Review and input patient demographics for pathology; print reports and input histology charges
• Order laboratory tests and prepare specimens according to standards
• Verify lab orders, confirm physicians, and make necessary corrections
• Perform venipuncture blood draws, heel sticks, and finger pokes; conduct drug screens and breathalyzers
• Keep phlebotomy team updated on changes and new protocols

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1+ years of related work experience preferred
• BLS certification required or must obtain within 3 months of hire
• Valid and current driver's license preferred
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in venipuncture and capillary blood collection techniques
• Knowledge of lab safety and infection control procedures
• Strong attention to detail for labeling and documentation
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with diverse patient populations
• Excellent communication and patient interaction skills
