Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist oral surgeons with wisdom tooth extractions and other surgical procedures
- Monitor and record patient vital signs including blood pressure and oxygen saturation during sedation
- Administer nitrous oxide and assist with IV sedation under the direction of the surgeon
- Take and process panoramic X-rays for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Provide clear post-operative instructions to patients and their families
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and maintain a clean operatory environment
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent training
- Experience in oral surgery or dental assisting preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in taking panoramic and intraoral X-rays
- Knowledge of nitrous oxide and IV sedation protocols
- Strong understanding of vital sign monitoring (BP, Pulse Oximetry)
- Familiarity with wisdom tooth surgery procedures and post-operative care
- Excellent communication skills for patient interaction
