Roles & Responsibilities

• Room and screen patients efficiently and compassionately to set the stage for great care
• Perform optical and point-of-care testing and accurately document results in the chart
• Acquire ocular imaging (photos, OCT, visual fields, topography) and upload for provider review
• Assist patients with optical orders: benefits verification, frame selection, measurements, order entry, and dispensing
• Manage inventory, order supplies, and help with returns and frame placement
• Support scheduling, triage, and referral coordination to keep patient flow smooth
• Handle phone triage and patient questions with clear, caring communication
• Collaborate with providers and Referral Care Coordinators to ensure timely follow-up and documentation

Qualifications

• Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (required)
• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum one year of medical assistant experience
• Comfort with ocular imaging and optical dispensing or willingness to learn via training modules
• Flu vaccine required prior to assignment start
• Ability to complete fingerprinting process (note: start date is at least 5 weeks after fingerprint cards are received for processing)

• High School Diploma or GED

• Ocular imaging techniques: photos, OCT, visual fields, topography
• Point-of-care testing and accurate medical documentation
• Optical dispensing, frame selection, measurements, and order entry
• Scheduling, triage, and phone triage skills
• Inventory management and basic invoice/approval support
• Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork
