Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patients' respiratory status and implement appropriate care plans
• Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and chest physiotherapy
• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilators, making adjustments based on patient response
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and maintain comprehensive medical records
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and home care techniques

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Louisiana (or compact eligibility)
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Previous experience in acute care or hospital setting preferred
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of respiratory therapy modalities and protocols
• Skilled in ventilator management and airway management
• Knowledge of patient assessment, monitoring, and documentation standards
• Proficient with electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
