Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hospice nursing care and symptom management for patients in home or facility settings
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans with the interdisciplinary team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, with clear documentation
• Support patients and families emotionally and educate them on end-of-life care options
• Coordinate with physicians, social workers, and hospice aides to ensure seamless care delivery
• Document clinical findings and communication in the electronic medical record in a timely manner
• Advocate for patient comfort and dignity while respecting cultural and personal preferences

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state privileges as applicable
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (as indicated in the job posting); hospice experience highly valued
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; hospice/palliative care certifications a plus
• Comfort with end-of-life care principles, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel/relocate for the 13-week assignment

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in palliative settings
• Proficiency with medication management and pain/symptom control
• Skilled in patient/family education and empathetic communication
• Familiarity with hospice care documentation and care plan development
• Team collaboration with interdisciplinary providers and community resources
