Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Assess patients promptly and communicate clinical changes and diagnostic results to physicians and the care team
• Implement and evaluate individualized care plans, responding quickly and accurately to changes in condition
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and coordinate activities of other nursing personnel to maintain professional standards
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times and adhere to EMTALA and mandatory reporting requirements
• Deliver telemetry-level monitoring as needed and respond appropriately to emergent situations

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license (state licensure required)
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• PALS required
• BVP (MAB) training required
• NIHSS or Stroke Certification preferred
• COVID vaccination/boosters preferred
• Successful completion of required competency exams and skills checklists (as listed by facility)
• Compliance with facility health screening requirements (immunizations, TB test, drug screen, fit test, physical/health statement)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making in acute care
• Care planning, implementation and evaluation
• Telemetry nursing and cardiac monitoring
• Emergency Department nursing workflows and priorities
• Familiarity with EMTALA regulations and mandatory reporting processes
• Strong communication with physicians, patients and families
• Ability to respond quickly to clinical changes and escalate appropriately
• Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality
