Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during exams and procedures, ensuring patient comfort
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatory rooms for each patient
- Take and develop dental X-rays following safety protocols
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic care instructions
- Maintain accurate patient records and support treatment coordination
- Collaborate with the dental team to deliver exceptional care
Qualifications
- State dental assistant certification or licensure as required in Maryland
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Radiology (X-ray) certification is a strong plus
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Experience as a dental assistant, preferably in orthodontics
- Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology and orthodontic procedures
- Proficiency with dental software and patient record management
- Understanding of sterilization techniques and infection control
- Ability to explain treatment plans in a clear, caring manner
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Adaptability in a fast-paced clinical setting
