Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive dental hygiene care including cleanings, exams, and patient education
- Assess patients' oral health and document findings accurately
- Administer local anesthesia and fluoride treatments as needed
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care
- Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain a sterile and organized work environment
Qualifications
- Active Dental Hygienist license in Virginia
- Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program
- Current CPR certification (BLS required)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education
- Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in taking and interpreting dental X-rays
- Knowledge of dental hygiene instruments and sterilization techniques
- Strong patient education and motivational interviewing skills
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to infection control
