Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct resident care and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) to preserve dignity and comfort
• Monitor and accurately record vital signs and report any changes promptly
• Assist with safe transfers, mobility, and proper use of assistive devices
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in the resident’s record
• Collaborate with nurses and the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care plans
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
• Communicate respectfully and supportively with residents and their families

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification in Connecticut (required)
• Active listing on the state nursing assistant registry
• CPR/BLS certification preferred (facility may require)
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen
• Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is helpful
• Reliable, compassionate, and strong interpersonal skills

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CNA certification (state-specific) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of ADLs, hygiene assistance, and basic resident care
• Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with infection control procedures and safe patient handling
• Comfort with electronic health record documentation
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills
• Good time management and prioritization in a busy clinical setting
