Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on personal care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting)
- Monitor resident condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and observations in charts or electronic records
- Support a compassionate, resident-centered environment that preserves dignity and independence
- Follow infection control protocols and facility safety guidelines at all times
- Communicate effectively and courteously with residents, families, and the care team
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (state-approved) — ability to work in Connecticut preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass required background checks and mandated facility screenings
- Strong communication skills and a teamwork mindset
- Reliable attendance and dedication to resident-centered care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in personal care and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Knowledge of basic infection control and safety procedures
- Basic charting and documentation skills, attention to detail
- Comfortable with patient transfers, ambulation assistance, and mobility support
- Compassionate communication and the ability to build rapport with residents
- Ability to follow care plans and direction from licensed nursing staff
