Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients in a fast-paced resource pool
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret telemetry, and intervene promptly when patient status changes
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as ordered while maintaining patient safety
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate comprehensive care
• Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and discharge plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
• Adapt quickly to different units within the resource pool to ensure seamless coverage where needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or compact multistate license (license verification required)
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience in med/surg and telemetry nursing preferred; resource pool flexibility is a plus
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and every other weekend/holiday rotation
• Completion of facility-specific competency testing and skills checklist

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Knowledge of medical-surgical nursing standards, pharmacology, and patient safety
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Proficient in electronic health records and accurate documentation
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
