Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide expert perianesthesia nursing care to pediatric patients in the PACU, ensuring safe recovery from anesthesia
  • Monitor vital signs, assess patients' recovery status, and respond promptly to changes in condition
  • Collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Educate and support families, offering clear communication and compassionate reassurance during the recovery process
  • Document patient care accurately and maintain compliance with hospital policies and safety standards
  • Work flexibly across per diem shifts to meet patient care needs while maintaining high-quality standards

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Oregon (or compact) with no restrictions
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Experience in PACU, critical care, or pediatric nursing preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations welcome to apply
  • Ability to assess, prioritize, and respond to changing patient conditions with confidence
  • Compassionate, family-centered approach to pediatric care

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of anesthesia recovery phases and post-operative complications
  • Proficient in cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and pain management techniques
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Knowledge of pediatric developmental stages and age-specific care
