Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care to patients with complex neurological diagnoses, including brain tumors, craniotomies, spine surgeries, and trauma
• Perform thorough neuro assessments and monitor intracranial pressure (ICP) to detect changes in patient condition
• Manage ventilators, administer medications, and perform interventions like central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertions with strict sterile technique
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team at Barrow Neurological Institute, a world-renowned neuroscience center
• Float to telemetry units as needed, maintaining a professional and adaptable approach
• Participate in SIMs Lab to validate core nursing skills and ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, with at least 18 months in Neuro ICU preferred
• Level 1 Trauma experience is required
• Active RN license in Arizona or compact state, willing to obtain AZ license
• BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
• Must have own vehicle for local travel (50-mile radius rule applies)
• Travel experience of 3-6 months preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and Philips telemetry monitors
• Competence in ventilator management, central line care, and Foley catheter insertion
• Understanding of sterile field and aseptic technique for procedures
• Ability to float between ICU and telemetry units with ratios up to 1:4
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced academic medical center
