Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional, high-acuity care to a diverse Med/Tele patient population in a busy Level 1 Trauma setting
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, perform EKGs, and act quickly on changing patient conditions
• Titrate drips such as Amio, Primacore, Bumex, Lasix, Dobutamine, and IVIG with confidence and precision
• Administer blood transfusions and premedications while keeping patients safe and comfortable
• Manage complex wound care, including pressure injury staging and dressing changes
• Provide specialized care for Cystic Fibrosis, Sickle Cell, bariatric, and post-surgical overflow patients
• Collaborate with physicians, case management, and your team during 11 AM discharge rounding
• Jump in to support CODEs and respond as a calm, knowledgeable member of the care team
• Float to other med/surg telemetry floors when needed and adapt with a positive attitude
• Partner with PCAs on vitals, blood sugar checks, and patient care to keep the unit flowing

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with travel experience and busy hospital background strongly preferred
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting telemetry strips (a Relias EKG exam is completed before orientation)
• Confidence and skill with blood administration and IVIG
• Experience with EPIC charting
• Openness to floating and flexibility with scheduling, since self-scheduling is not available
• A true team player who communicates clearly with MDs and recognizes patient changes immediately
• Comfort caring for high-acuity patients with q2 vitals and rapid admit-to-discharge transitions
• Willingness to wear teal scrubs (teal preferred; black top with teal pants is acceptable)

• Sound decision making in fast-paced, high-acuity environments
• Clear communication and collaboration with physicians and the care team
