Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care on a 24-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a 6 to 1 ratio
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips to catch changes early and act fast
• Care for patients with CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD and a range of med/surg tele needs
• Manage CPAP, BiPAP and high flow patients with confidence
• Partner with tele monitor techs, PCTs and Nurse Educators to keep care seamless
• Float across all Med/Surg units, and possibly to PCU for tele holds awaiting transfer
• Chart accurately in Paragon to keep the whole care team in sync

Qualifications

• Active RN license with the ability to submit and a willingness to wait on licensure
• 3 years of Registered Nursing experience, ideally in Med/Surg Telemetry
• Current BLS Certification
• Comfort reading and interpreting telemetry strips
• Strong communication and time management skills, since you will juggle a lot with grace
• Ready to work the posted schedule, including every other weekend and holidays
• BSN is not required, your experience and skills are what matter most

Education

• Common diagnosis / Types of patients chf, diabetes, PNA, CKD, m/s tele
• Experience or 'Must have' skills great communication and time management,
• Are RN's required to titrate drips n/a
• Common titratable &/or set rate drips
• Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Do RN's read strips? tele monitor techs monitor patients but RNs have to be able to read strips
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Charge Nurse and House Supervisors and Nurse Educators available
• Are there Nurse Aides on this unit/Ratios PCTs are present 12/1
• RT/Equipment (ie Cpap, Bipap, High Flow) Cpap, Bipap, and high flow patients
• Shifts & Scheduling 12 hour shifts scheduling is by manager, cannot guarantee block scheduling
• Weekend Requirement every other weekend required
• Holiday Requirement holidays are required
• Call or Standby Requirement n/a
• Floating Requirements will float to all med/surg units.
• Scrub Color/Dress Code Navy blue
• Unit/Department Specific Orientation Kurth tower is all med/surg tele and department orientation is completed.
