Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period
• Monitor maternal and fetal vitals and respond to changes promptly
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and emergency procedures
• Educate and support families on newborn care, breastfeeding, and recovery
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the healthcare team to ensure safe outcomes
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient safety standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact state
• Current BLS certification required
• NRP certification preferred
• Experience in Labor and Delivery or maternal-child nursing is a plus
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of obstetric nursing principles and practices
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Understanding of maternal and neonatal emergencies
• Excellent patient education and family support skills
• Strong documentation and EHR skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
