Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide acute psychiatric care to geriatric patients aged 60 and older in a 10-bed short-term unit
• Collaborate with a team of 2-3 RNs per shift to ensure safe, competent, and compassionate care
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and implement treatment plans
• Respond effectively to psychiatric crises and behavioral emergencies
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate with interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum of 2 years acute care RN experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certifications required
• Psychiatric nursing background strongly preferred
• Completion of facility-specific skills checklist prior to first shift

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical skills in geriatric psychiatry and acute care
• Ability to manage behavioral health crises with confidence
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Proficient in patient assessment, medication administration, and documentation
