Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and prioritize care for patients in a fast-paced Emergency Department
• Perform comprehensive assessments and intervene in life-threatening situations with confidence
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency treatments while closely monitoring patient responses
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and specialists to create seamless care plans for diverse patient populations
• Provide compassionate education to patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Document every interaction accurately in the electronic health record to support continuity of care
• Stay calm and adaptable during high-pressure moments, ensuring every patient feels heard and cared for

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted RN license in Iowa or a compact state (License/Certificate Verification required)
• Current BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Must meet all Trinity health requirements including COVID-19 vaccine, Influenza vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and Tdap
• Successful completion of a 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot), Fit Test, Color Vision test, and 10 Panel Drug Screen
• Physical/Health Statement clearance and Trinity License/Certificate Verification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical reasoning and triage skills for emergency care
• Ability to make rapid, evidence-based decisions in critical situations
• Excellent communication for collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
• Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate documentation
• Deep knowledge of ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS protocols
• A calm, empathetic approach that puts patients and families at ease
