Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Start Date: 08-03-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Day shift (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM), 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends per schedule

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide specialized nursing care to cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients, including post-operative management of open heart, thoracic, and vascular procedures
Monitor telemetry and stepdown patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
Administer cardiac drips (phenylephrine, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, heparin, etc.) and manage epidural pain control
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, 40-bed cardiac stepdown unit
Ensure patient safety and positive outcomes through vigilant assessment and intervention

Qualifications

Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state
Minimum 2 years of stepdown or telemetry experience
BLS and ACLS certifications required
Prior CV surgery or vascular surgery experience strongly preferred
Team player with flexibility to handle a dynamic environment

Knowledge & Skills

Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
Experience with chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV glucommander
Skilled in critical care drips and post-operative surgical care
Familiarity with Cerner EMR
Ability to work effectively in high-acuity settings
