Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate behavioral health nursing care to adolescent patients in an acute psychiatric unit
• Administer medications safely and monitor patient responses
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document in Cerner EMR
• Develop and implement individualized care plans with the interdisciplinary team
• Use crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment
• Educate patients and families on mental health management and coping strategies

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• CPI certification required
• Experience with pediatric or adolescent behavioral health preferred
• Ability to float to adult and child behavioral health units as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing principles and therapeutic communication
• Skilled in medication administration and patient assessments
• Proficient with Cerner EMR and medication dispensing systems (PYXIS, DYNAMAP)
• Calm, de-escalating presence in crisis situations
• Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
