Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and orthodontic procedures to ensure efficient, high-quality care
- Prepare and sterilize instruments, equipment, and operatory surfaces according to infection control standards
- Take and process dental X-rays, photographs, and impressions to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Use Denticon to manage patient records, schedule appointments, and document treatment details
- Educate patients and their families on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care instructions
- Provide a warm, welcoming experience that helps patients feel relaxed and confident
Qualifications
- Certified or registered Dental Assistant (as required by Maryland state regulations)
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain
- Prior experience in orthodontics or a dental setting is highly desirable
- Comfort with Denticon practice management software is a major plus
- A positive, patient-focused attitude and strong communication skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control protocols
- Skilled in taking dental X-rays, impressions, and intraoral photos
- Proficiency with Denticon for scheduling, charting, and patient data management
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
