Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and operatories to maintain a safe clinical environment
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic care instructions
- Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment plans
- Provide compassionate support to patients and families, helping them feel at ease
Qualifications
- Active Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by Maryland state regulations
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Radiography (X-ray) certification preferred
- Previous orthodontic assisting experience is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for patient care and teamwork
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control protocols
- Proficiency in taking dental X-rays and digital imaging
- Familiarity with orthodontic procedures and terminology
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong patient-centered communication skills
