Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience
• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and operatories to maintain a safe clinical environment
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic care instructions
• Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment plans
• Provide compassionate support to patients and families, helping them feel at ease

Qualifications

• Active Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by Maryland state regulations
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Radiography (X-ray) certification preferred
• Previous orthodontic assisting experience is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A genuine passion for patient care and teamwork

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control protocols
• Proficiency in taking dental X-rays and digital imaging
• Familiarity with orthodontic procedures and terminology
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong patient-centered communication skills
