Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontists during procedures, ensuring patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their treatment
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment areas to maintain the highest standards of safety and hygiene
• Take and develop dental radiographs, cephalometric images, and digital scans as needed
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, braces care, and post-treatment instructions to support successful outcomes
• Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment plans in the practice management system

Qualifications

• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in Maryland strongly preferred
• Experience as a dental assistant, ideally in orthodontics
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Radiography (X-ray) certification from an accredited program
• A warm, patient-focused attitude and excellent communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with orthodontic tools and techniques, including braces, retainers, and aligners
• Strong patient communication and chairside manner
• Knowledge of dental terminology and infection control protocols
• Familiarity with dental software for scheduling and charting
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
