Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during procedures, ensuring patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their treatment
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment areas to maintain the highest standards of safety and hygiene
- Take and develop dental radiographs, cephalometric images, and digital scans as needed
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, braces care, and post-treatment instructions to support successful outcomes
- Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment plans in the practice management system
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in Maryland strongly preferred
- Experience as a dental assistant, ideally in orthodontics
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Radiography (X-ray) certification from an accredited program
- A warm, patient-focused attitude and excellent communication skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with orthodontic tools and techniques, including braces, retainers, and aligners
- Strong patient communication and chairside manner
- Knowledge of dental terminology and infection control protocols
- Familiarity with dental software for scheduling and charting
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
