Roles & Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for visits, helping them feel comfortable and respected
• Take vital signs, record patient histories, and update electronic medical records accurately
• Assist providers with exams and minor procedures in a calm and professional manner
• Perform basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection when needed
• Coordinate patient flow and communicate clearly with team members to keep the clinic running smoothly
• Ensure infection control and HIPAA standards are followed at all times
• Support a compassionate patient experience consistent with Shriners’ mission

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical experience preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is a plus
• Current BLS/CPR certification required or must obtain upon hire
• Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered approach
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant certificate/diploma preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient communication and bedside manner that puts people at ease
• Clinical skills including vital signs, phlebotomy, and basic exam assistance
• Comfort with Electronic Health Records and accurate documentation
• Infection control practices and safety protocols
• Strong time management and ability to multitask in a busy clinic
• Teamwork and collaboration with providers, nurses, and administrative staff
