Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality patient care to intermediate and step‑down cardiac/vascular patients
• Administer and titrate critical drips such as amiodarone, nitroprusside, nicardipine, epinephrine, and cardizem
• Interpret telemetry and monitor data, responding promptly to alarms and changes
• Collaborate with 24/7 hospitalist, intensivist, and cardiology teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Participate in unit orientation and float to comparable acuity levels as needed

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Nebraska
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 1 year experience caring for cardiac/vascular patients in a CVU or similar setting
• Proficiency in titrating vasoactive and anti‑arrhythmic drips
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Driver’s license required for radius‑rule verification

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac and vascular disease processes (CHF, AFib, CVA, structural heart)
• Medication management and drip titration protocols
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Use of respiratory equipment (BiPAP, CPAP, nasal cannula)
• Interdisciplinary teamwork with physicians, RTs, and techs
• Documentation and electronic health record proficiency
