Location: Bismarck, North Dakota

Start Date: 06-01-2026

End Date: 08-31-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM 12-hour shifts, or 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM; self-scheduling based on seniority, every other weekend and holiday, floating as needed

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $58 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver compassionate care to adolescents and adults with mental health needs like depression, anxiety, and bipolar
Master de-escalation techniques to create a safe healing environment
Conduct 15-minute rounds and actively engage in patient care activities
Collaborate with mental health techs, occupational therapists, and social workers
Assist with 1:1s and float to support the hospital as a helping hand
Respond swiftly to emergencies using unit safety protocols

Qualifications

Active RN license with BLS certification required, CPI preferred
Acute inpatient or state hospital experience
Strong de-escalation and communication skills
Comfort working with adolescents and adults, first-time travelers welcome
Patient and calm demeanor to thrive in a dynamic locked unit

Education

RN licensure required

Knowledge & Skills

Expert de-escalation and clear communication
Familiarity with behavioral health diagnoses and treatments
Team collaboration with techs and therapists
Basic IV skills a plus but not required
Patience and proactive patient involvement
