Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist with chairside procedures, ensuring every patient has a comfortable and positive experience
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments to maintain the highest standards of safety and hygiene
• Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the orthodontist
• Educate patients and their families on oral hygiene, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes
• Manage dental supplies and ensure all equipment is properly maintained and ready for use

Qualifications

• Active certification or licensure as a Dental Assistant in Maryland (MD)
• Radiography (X-ray) certification for dental settings
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Prior chairside experience, preferably in orthodontics or dental specialties
• A warm, patient-centered approach and strong communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of orthodontic procedures and dental terminology
• Proficiency with dental instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control protocols
• Familiarity with electronic health records and dental practice management software
• Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a talent for making patients feel at ease
