Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents—assist with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs, and report any changes in condition promptly
- Support safe transfers and ambulation to reduce fall risk
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care delivered and observations
- Collaborate with nurses and the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care
- Help maintain a clean, safe and respectful environment for residents
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (valid in Connecticut)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required
- Compassionate bedside manner and good communication skills
- Prior long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Completion of an approved CNA program and state certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic patient care and ADLs (activities of daily living)
- Comfort with vital sign measurement and documentation
- Ability to follow care plans and safety protocols
- Good teamwork and communication with residents, families, and staff
- Time management and organizational skills to support smooth shift flow
