Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care, supporting residents with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
- Take and accurately record vital signs and report changes to nursing staff
- Help with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Document resident care and observations clearly and promptly
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Collaborate with the care team to support individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (required) — must meet Connecticut state requirements
- Completion of an approved CNA training program
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced long-term care environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred but not mandatory
Education
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on bedside care and ADL assistance
- Basic vital sign measurement and charting
- Infection control and resident safety practices
- Attention to detail in documentation and handoffs
- Empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow care plans and escalate concerns appropriately
