Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care and support daily needs
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes in condition
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in patient charts and electronic records
- Communicate effectively with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect patients and staff
- Participate in shift handoffs and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification valid for practice in Connecticut
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or required as per facility policy
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB test as required by the facility
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen
- Strong communication skills and a genuine desire to care for others
Education
- High school diploma or GED and completion of a state-approved CNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic patient care techniques and safe transfer/lifting practices
- Accurate vital signs measurement and documentation
- Familiarity with infection control standards and PPE use
- Basic charting and electronic health record (EHR) navigation
- Good time management, teamwork, and observation/reporting skills
- Compassionate patient interaction and de-escalation approaches
