Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, supporting activities of daily living
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility support
- Take and record vital signs and report changes in condition to the nursing team
- Document resident care accurately in charts and electronic medical records
- Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment for residents
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care
- Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification and state registration in Connecticut
- Demonstrated experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living and resident assistance techniques
- Vital sign measurement and basic clinical observation skills
- Safe transfer and mobility assistance knowledge
- Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
- Comfortable with documentation in paper charts or electronic health records
- Teamwork, time management, and effective communication with residents and families
