Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during exams, procedures, and adjustments
- Prepare patients for treatment and ensure they feel comfortable and at ease
- Take and mount dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the provider
- Prepare, sterilize, and organize instruments and operatories before and after each patient
- Educate patients and families on oral hygiene, braces care, and orthodontic treatment plans
- Maintain accurate patient records, treatment notes, and digital documentation
- Collaborate closely with the dental team to deliver a smooth and friendly patient experience
Qualifications
- Active Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by Maryland state regulations
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain one
- Radiography (X-ray) certification for dental assistants
- Previous orthodontic or dental assisting experience is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a warm, professional chairside manner
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control standards
- Familiarity with dental practice management software (e.g., Denticon)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to reassure nervous patients
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
