Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during exams, procedures, and adjustments
• Prepare patients for treatment and ensure they feel comfortable and at ease
• Take and mount dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the provider
• Prepare, sterilize, and organize instruments and operatories before and after each patient
• Educate patients and families on oral hygiene, braces care, and orthodontic treatment plans
• Maintain accurate patient records, treatment notes, and digital documentation
• Collaborate closely with the dental team to deliver a smooth and friendly patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by Maryland state regulations
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain one
• Radiography (X-ray) certification for dental assistants
• Previous orthodontic or dental assisting experience is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a warm, professional chairside manner

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control standards
• Familiarity with dental practice management software (e.g., Denticon)
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to reassure nervous patients
• Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
