Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist orthodontist during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic appliance care
• Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment notes
• Manage inventory of orthodontic supplies and place orders as needed

Qualifications

• Active Dental Assistant certification in Maryland (required)
• Radiology certification (Maryland) preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience in orthodontics is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a CODA-accredited dental assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic procedures and terminology
• Proficiency in dental software and digital charting
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Attention to detail and infection control standards
