Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field for complex cardiovascular surgeries including CABG and valve procedures
• Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and anticipating needs in a fast-paced environment
• Monitor surgical equipment and ensure all supplies are readily available
• Collaborate with the OR team to provide exceptional patient care and safety
• Respond to call situations with confidence and skill, including overnight and weekend coverage

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR experience required
• BLS certification (AHA) required at time of submission
• NIHSS certification preferred or ability to obtain
• Willingness to float to other Sacramento facilities if needed (rare for OR RNs)
• Must not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit (CHI/Dignity) within the past year

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in cardiovascular surgical procedures including CABG, valves, and all heart surgeries (no thoracic)
• Ability to interpret EKG strips and monitor telemetry
• Experience with Cerner EMR system
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a high-pressure environment
• Flexibility to adapt to varied shift start times and call requirements
