Roles & Responsibilities

• Supervise nursing services and direct day-to-day nursing activities to ensure excellent resident care
• Administer and accurately record medications, treatments, and monitoring (e.g., glucose checks) and document resident responses
• Transcribe physician orders and assist with physician rounds, examinations, and treatments as needed
• Review and update individualized care plans; lead team implementation and review with nursing assistants
• Collect, label, and document laboratory specimens and coordinate timely delivery
• Count narcotics with another nurse at shift change and maintain accurate inventories
• Complete monthly summaries, incident reports, transfer documentation, and daily reports for the wing
• Assist with orientation, training, and annual evaluations of nursing assistants; lead team conferences as needed
• Monitor infection control practices, staff documentation, and quality assurance data to maintain compliance
• Provide direct resident care as needed and escalate significant changes in condition to RN Supervisor

Qualifications

• Active Pennsylvania RN license required (current or temporary work permit required at time of interview)
• BLS (AHA) required
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• New graduates are welcome to apply
• Preferred: Nursing home / long-term care experience
• Ability to pass employment physical and be free of communicable disease
• Strong communication skills and ability to supervise nursing assistants/LPNs

Education

• Active Pennsylvania RN licensure required (no specific degree specified; new grads accepted)

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration and narcotic counting
• Documentation and accurate charting in EHR/EMR (PCC)
• Patient assessment and vital signs monitoring
• Care plan development and management
• Infection control and specimen collection
• Supervision, leadership, and staff training/orientation
• Awareness of cost containment and efficient time/equipment use
• Good judgment in emergencies and collaborative communication with the care team
