Physical Therapist - Acute Inpatient

Location: Bakersfield, California

Start Date: 06-13-2026

End Date: 09-12-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Mostly 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, occasional one day a week 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM, one weekend every third weekend (Monday and Friday off that weekend)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and treatments for acute inpatient populations including post-surgical, deconditioned, and neurological patients
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and recovery
Cover various units including Medical/Surgical, ICU, and ER as needed
Document patient progress accurately and timely in electronic medical records
Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and discharge planning

Qualifications

Current California Physical Therapy (PT) license required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Minimum 1-2 years of acute inpatient PT experience preferred
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of acute care rehabilitation protocols and evidence-based practice
Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Proficiency with electronic medical records systems
Ability to manage a patient caseload of 12+ patients per day effectively
