Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders to improve patients' communication and safety
• Develop individualized plans of care and document evaluations, progress, and discharge reports
• Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, dietitians, and other providers to deliver patient-centered care
• Contact insurance companies to verify benefits and help patients navigate coverage
• Prepare targeted evaluation and treatment sessions that reflect current research and best practices
• Provide in-service presentations and staff education to share recommendations and build team knowledge
• Perform reminder calls and patient outreach to support attendance and continuity of care
• Maintain a clean, safe treatment environment and assist patients and families with hospital navigation

Qualifications

• Proven ability to assess and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders
• Strong clinical documentation skills including evaluations, plans of care, progress notes, and discharge summaries
• Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and educating staff
• Comfort contacting insurers and handling benefit verification
• Excellent communication skills with patients and families, including conducting reminder calls

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dysphagia assessment and swallowing treatment techniques
• Skilled in patient evaluation and individualized plan of care development
• Proficient with clinical documentation best practices
• Ability to create and deliver engaging in-service presentations
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered care approach
• Competence in guiding patients and families through hospital processes
