Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule varies with 3-4 weekend shifts per 4-week period and holidays included in rotation (overnight/NOC)

Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity post-op and cardiac critical care for CVICU patients with professionalism and clinical excellence
- Perform and supervise bedside procedures (central line dressing changes, Foley insertions, Swans, bronchs) while strictly maintaining sterile technique
- Recognize and manage dysrhythmias promptly — you’ll be expected to pass the dysrhythmia exam
- Manage advanced circulatory and support devices (IABP, ECMO familiarity helpful) and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Operate and document care in Cerner EMR with accuracy and timely charting
- Serve in charge nurse responsibilities as assigned (unit coordination, staffing oversight, no direct patient assignment during charge shifts)
- Float to other ICUs and telemetry units as needed, providing high-quality care across settings
- Participate in SIMs Lab and orientation activities to demonstrate competency in required skills
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state license or compact eligible) — license to submit is accepted
- Minimum 2 years of ICU/cardiac critical care experience (CVICU preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Strong IV and vascular access skills; comfort with frequent bedside procedures
- Experience with 12-hour night shifts and working weekends/holidays
- Ability to pass dysrhythmia exam (two attempts provided) and SIMs Lab skills (sterile field competency required)
- Ability to meet facility appearance/fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings; clean-shaven for fit test if applicable)
- Travel teams must have their own vehicle and be able to float to Westgate campus if asked
Education
- Active RN license required
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in Cerner EMR documentation and workflow
- Strong dysrhythmia recognition and management skills
- Expertise in sterile technique, central line care and Foley catheter insertion
- Familiarity with IABP, CRRT, ECMO and Swan-Ganz monitoring
- Comfort with high-acuity cardiac surgery recovery patients (CABG, TAVR, thoracic procedures, lung transplant)
- Ability to collaborate with RT, pharmacy, intensivists and multidisciplinary teams
- Telemetry interpretation using Philips monitoring systems
- Effective charge and unit leadership skills during high census
