Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement respiratory care for patients with pulmonary conditions
• Administer oxygen, aerosol medications, and ventilator support
• Monitor patient responses and adjust treatments to achieve optimal outcomes
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing team to coordinate comprehensive care
• Educate patients and families on respiratory management and home care
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with care standards

Qualifications

• Active Iowa Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility for licensure
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Acute care experience preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply
• Ability to work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for patient-centered care

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of mechanical ventilation and airway management
• Skill in patient assessment and critical thinking
• Understanding of oxygen therapy and medication delivery systems
• Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Proficiency in electronic health records and documentation
• Ability to remain calm and effective in acute care settings
