Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing treatment for medical oncology conditions
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other infusions safely while monitoring for adverse reactions
  • Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to create individualized care plans
  • Educate patients and families on treatment protocols, side effect management, and available support resources
  • Assess patients' physical and emotional status, intervening quickly when changes occur
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to safety, infection control, and hazardous drug handling standards

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of assignment (compact acceptable where applicable)
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Previous oncology or medical-surgical nursing experience strongly preferred
  • ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy provider card is a plus
  • Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
  • A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of cancer patients

Knowledge & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of oncology medications, infusion therapies, and central line care
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and intravenous pump systems
  • Understanding of safe handling and disposal of hazardous drugs
  • Excellent patient education and emotional support skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
